Embracing Digital Learning in The Pandemic
Really, Digital Learning? Do we even have a second thought of making this whole digitalization “thing” as something official to us? Or more likely a necessity to us all especially when the pandemic strike us like lightning? I can guarantee at its best that none of us see this coming, and this is where I’ll tell you why.
It is normal for us to take for granted and follow the exact way of a practice that’s been done for over million years ago. Not many people are brave enough to actually improve or probably take this chance to upgrade, as most of them would think it is a waste of time to venture into something new, as it costs money, time, and many other aspects in order to normalize the unusual practice, and in this case we’re talking about Digital Learning.
Some of us believe that the unplanned and rapid move towards digital learning – with no training, insufficient bandwidth, and little preparation – will result in a poor user experience that is unconducive to sustained growth. Well, at first go, I truly understand the fact that it is quite hard to implement something new to something that already exist and knowing the fact that we’re suddenly replacing it with something unusual and trying hard to normalize it, can never be easy. But trust me, you’ll not regret having this as your new way to go in education as I will guarantee you that this new hybrid model of education would spread like mushrooms covering the earth in less than 10 years.

YES! I agree that this pandemic affects us all, like the entire world we’re talking about and you might think that digital learning is very time consuming. But, if you give a chance to digital learning and really dive deep into it, you will understand and realize that there’s a lot for you to benefit from and you should really embrace it especially with the current pandemic that we’re having.
What is Digital Learning?
Digital Learning is any type of learning that is accompanied by technology or by instructional practice that makes effective use of technology. It compasses the application of a wide spectrum of practices, including blended and virtual learning. Well, sometimes, it can be confused with online learning or e-learning; digital learning encompasses the aforementioned concepts. It is revolutionary and is constantly changing in step with new advances in technology, particularly with the advent of modern internet user experiences and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Today’s technology allows us to personalize the learning experience to suit our individual learning needs and time schedules. Understanding the types of digital learning is essential if you want to fully capitalize on the digital learning revolution.
Why you should embrace it?
Digital learning helps in enhancing learning experience. You might be wondering “How”, so let me try to make you imagine and understand this situation.
Try to imagine, with this current situation, most of us aren’t able to go to the office, to attend physical trainings or even classes as most of us need to keep our distance, always. It’s quite difficult for us to continue upskill and reskill ourselves if we keep on having this barrier between us as life has to go on. We need to improvise our way of training, and way we do things. Luckily, with the existence of this digital learning, we’re able to break the barrier and start improving ourselves. This digital platform allows us to enhance our skills aggressively. It enables us to upgrade ourselves at anytime that we want and anywhere that we want. Don’t cramp yourself by thinking that digital learning is just an online learning. It’s actually beyond that.
Other than that, it reduces the operational expenses. Most businesses are harnessing the power of the internet to train their employees. For example, compliance training used to consist of long lectures, countless manuals, and lengthy training booklets. Today, organizations can create compliance online training programs that offer all the benefits (convenience, cost, efficiency, customization) without the traditional drawbacks. A Learning Management System (LMS) gives you the power to provide continuous education and ensure that all employees are up to code without spending a fortune on face-to-face instruction.
Next, by having a wealth of technology at our fingertips these days, you’ll be able to mix and match the programs and software you use with different people, and for different activities. It gives you freedom to choose what kind of learning experience suit you most for your better understanding because not everyone learns the same way. Some of us are visual learners, others prefer to learn through a hands-on, more realistic practice style instead. Employers can boost their training strategy by employing content that appeals to all learning styles through a blended learning approach. eLearning systems allow you to combine traditional face-to-face teaching with online learning to create training materials with a variety of learning activities and multimedia options including video, classroom sessions, gamification methods, forums, and much more.
In conclusion, there’s many for you to benefit from and you really should embrace it especially during this current pandemic situation. By practicing this new normal activity, together we can save time, cost, and continue to upgrade and upskill ourselves without any hesitation. So, start embracing it now!
